Appendix C: Image Types

The available export formats depend on the Barcode Studio edition. See Product Variants for details.

Raster formats use a fixed pixel grid. Export them at the final size and resolution, and do not resize them afterward. Otherwise, the barcode may become difficult or impossible to scan. Vector formats are not tied to a pixel resolution.

Format Notes
BMP (.bmp) Windows Bitmap
Adobe Illustrator v7 (.ai) Configure the color format and font handling under AI Export.
EPS (.eps) Encapsulated PostScript. Configure the color format, overprinting, font handling, and optional TIFF preview under EPS Export.
GIF (.gif) Graphics Interchange Format; supports a transparent background.
JPEG (.jpg) Joint Photographic Experts Group image format. JPEG uses lossy compression; prefer PNG for normal raster barcode exports.
PDF (.pdf) Portable Document Format. Individual barcode, background, and text colors can use spot colors. Configure the color format and overprinting under PDF Export.
PNG (.png) Portable Network Graphics; lossless, supports a transparent background, and is recommended for normal raster barcode exports.
SVG (.svg) Scalable Vector Graphics
TIFF (.tif) Tagged Image File Format; supports a transparent background.
